whitney street school blenheim 2016

sports avaliable

Whitney Street School have a variety of sports available for our students at different time of the year. While teachers organise and co-ordinate the teams and draws, parents (or sometimes high school students) take on roles as coaches and managers. We would LOVE to have more hands on deck to help motivate and inspire the future Olympians representing New Zealand! Please This email address is being protected from spambots. We regularly utilises local coaches and the community to promote sport, develop skills and talents, and to encourage our students to take a risk by trying new forms of Physical Activity and sports outside of school.

Whitney Street School are very lucky in that our extensive grounds enable us to simultaneously run a variety of practices during lunch. Being close to the town centre, we have quick and easy access to Stadium 2000 and the Marlborough Athletics Grounds amongst other things. Our solar heated school pool is on its way to being fitted out with new changing sheds and being landscaped. On occassion, we have Adults v's Students games of netball, soccer, touch and basketball. We would love (and quite desperately need) you to come along and join in the fun and games.

Every year (weather permitting), we have our own school athletic sports, attend the gymnastics festival, have a school cross country down the river and swimming sports. Confident and competent students have the chance to participate in regional events such as swimming, athletics, basketball, netball,  cross country, hockey, gymnastics, rippa and sevens rugby events.

If you time it right, you might even see us Jump Jamming, bopping to Go Noodle or grooving to Just Dance as we really value physical fitness and a healthy start to the day.
