School Lunches 2022 – change of provider ACTION REQUIRED pleaseThu Nov 25 06:25pm
Kia ora everyone,
In 2022 we will be changing lunch providers to ‘Lunch by Libelle’ in the hope of providing some more variety for the children. Although a few of the lunches are similar to what we are currently receiving, Libelle have a lot more options and work on a 4-week roster with nothing repeated in that time. Attached is a sample 4 week menu and you can view more on their website here under the Menu tab. They also hope to provide two hot lunches per week during Terms 2 and 3.
We would like as many children as possible to opt back into the lunches programme and need you to complete this form by next Friday 3 December for every child in your family at school (apart from Year 6’s who will be moving onto intermediate) so we can update our records ready for the start of the new school year. As usual you will still need to supply brain snack and morning tea.
Please contact Cheryl on 027 321 8022 if you would like any more information.

Tyres to give awayTue Nov 16 04:08pm
If anyone would like, (or know of others who would like), tyres leftover from the playground project please let Cheryl know by this Friday (027 321 8022 or email@example.com). Tractor tyres make great sandpits or raised gardens, and truck and car tyres can be turned into funky outdoor or indoor furniture. Look up Recycled Tyre Furniture on Pintrest for ideas.
School RaffleMon Nov 15 02:05pm
Due to the cancellation of Lights Over Marlborough, the PSG is running a chocolate/ mystery bottle raffle. Tickets are $1 each and your child(ren) will be bringing them home today.
Each student is asked to please sell 10 tickets and there will be 1 draw per classroom. Each class draw will have 5 prizes and some spot prizes so lots of chances to win!
Tickets need to be returned to school (sold or unsold) by Wednesday 1 Dec for the draw to be held on Friday 3 December in each class.
Alert Level 2 RemindersMon Nov 15 10:08am
A gentle reminder to please remember that under Level 2 restrictions children need to go home straight after school, which means they are not to play on the playground (even though it is very tempting with it looking so wonderful). Parents/caregivers are asked to stay outside the school grounds unless necessary eg to see the teacher, go to the office, or pick up a new entrant child. In these situations please sign in at the gates and please remember to wear a mask. If you have a mask exemption we would appreciate you bringing evidence of it.
Thank you for your understanding in these matters.
Our start date for Term 4 Summer Football has now changed to Wednesday 24th November.Tue Nov 09 07:52am
We will run for 4 weeks instead of 5:
Wednesday 24th November
Wednesday 1st December
Wednesday 8th December
Wednesday 15th December
A message from Marlborough Football
The reason behind this is because unfortunately due to the new COVID guidelines the rules have changed on us since the last time we ran summer football, and we have now been told we have to split all our fields in to 3 different areas at A&P Park and have more staff set up in different areas to help guide players / parents to the right place, and we need to hire portaloos for each area/bubble of people to use.
We have of course incurred some extra expenses to make this happen, and we didn’t want to increase the cost on teams, so we have instead decreased the competition by one week.
Table Talks, the Pasifika community consultation evening has been postponed from tomorrow night until next year. Many thanks, Andy FacerWed Oct 27 07:04pm

Level 2 Alert prior to children returning to schoolWed Sep 08 03:57pm
Some Level 2 Reminders
As you are no doubt aware most of NZ is now in Alert Level 2. We are looking forward to seeing your child/ren back at Whitney Street School tomorrow. Once again we ask that you drop off and pick up your children at the gates unless you are the parent of a New Entrant child. We will have staff with a Contact Tracing clipboard and the QR code available at each gate for you to sign in if you need to come on-site.
Physical distancing is a good precaution to prevent the spread of disease. There will be 2 metre distancing for adults in the office area and we ask that you observe this anywhere on site. We would also politely ask that if you do need to come on site that you wear a face mask.
If you were issued with a device for the lockdown period, please wipe/clean the device and return to the school library with its power cord.
If you were given a hardcopy pack of resources that included school books/readers, please return these to school, to your child’s teacher.
Road Patrollers will need to be on patrol as normal – thank you!
School lunches will be resuming as normal.
Thank you for your understanding.

Crazy Hair Day – This Friday!Tue Sep 07 01:56pm
We have decided to go ahead with our Crazy Hair Day in exchange for a consumable bottle scheduled for Friday 9 September.
What a cool way to celebrate getting the Whitney gang back together! Have a read of the poster and if you have any questions, please ask the teacher of your child. We look forward to seeing some CRAZY hairstyles…the extra length that has grown during lockdown should make for a bit more room to get creative!

Whitney Street School Open from Thursday 9 SeptemberMon Sep 06 06:54pm
We are very excited to announce that schools south of Auckland will be open for ALL students this Thursday 9 September at 9am. Masks are not mandated for use in schools – they are only recommended.
Our Alert Level 2 Parent and Caregiver Procedure /Guidelines are here. Please read through them carefully although they are subject to change as we are given further advice from the Ministry of Education and Health.
You can be assured that in Alert Level 2 we will know who is at school, who our staff and students have been in close contact with, and take appropriate measures to keep everyone safe.
Once again we ask that you drop your children at the gates unless you are the parent of a New Entrant. We will have staff with a Contact Tracing clipboard and the QR code available at each gate for you to sign in if you need to come on-site.
Physical distancing is a good precaution to prevent the spread of disease. There will be 2 metre distancing for adults in the office area and we ask that you observe this anywhere on school grounds. We talk to the students about using their ‘chicken wings’ or ‘short aeroplane wings’ to keep a bit of distance between them. We do however know it is challenging in schools, so good hygiene practices and regular cleaning are even more important here. This includes staff and students coughing into their elbows, handwashing and drying and regular cleaning of commonly touched surfaces.
Under Alert Level 2, we advise any students and staff to stay at home if they are sick, and we will send anyone home immediately if they show any symptoms.
Our school has safe and sensible practices to maintain the health and safety of everyone on the school site. It’s important however that not just at school but at home, safe hygiene habits are practised by everyone, as this is essential to minimise the risk that someone gets infected with Covid-19.
For more information about the public health measures at Alert Level 2, you can visit the covid19.govt.nz website.
If you have any questions about our health and safety plan, or have a child who might be vulnerable to serious illness and would like to discuss a plan for them, please contact Lisa or Christee.
We will keep you informed as more advice comes to hand from the government. Thanks for following these procedures and fingers crossed we return to Alert Level 1 shortly.
