Calendar GlitchThu Nov 17 06:00pm
We have experienced a couple of problems with our calendar orders but the company will address those and have them back to Whitney Street in 2-3 weeks. A couple of parents have discovered that they have an issue with the calendars. One is missing the month of May and another has an extra month!
If you could check your calendars, please? If they do have a problem, return them to the school office by Tuesday afternoon with a note on them stating the issue. It is a tight turnaround to have them redone by the end of the term so hence the short time frame.
Fingers crossed not too many are incorrect.

LOM Poster & Volunteer SheetThu Oct 27 03:40pm
Lights Over Marlborough (LOM) is fast approaching with just over 2 weeks to go! Today each child brought home an A4 poster promoting LOM and we would really appreciate you putting it in your car windows, and telling everyone you know about it. We need as many people as possible to attend to make the event a successful fundraiser, so spread the word!
Also, children of parents/whānau who offered to help on stalls and rides have brought home the sheet showing times and places. Please check for your highlighted name on the sheet.
We would still like a few people in reserve in case of last minute cancellations so please contact Cheryl on firstname.lastname@example.org or call 027 321 8022 to put your name on the reserve list.
Thanks very much everyone, and fingers crossed for fine weather and a great evening.
This Thursday’s Taiopenga Performance: Important MessageTue Oct 25 10:57am
Kia ora whānau,
Thank you so much to all the parents and caregivers who have offered to help at this Thursday’s Taiopenga performance. We are lucky to have such a supportive and wonderful whānau!
As the tamariki will be travelling to Marlborough Girls College on buses, we will not have space for all the adults who have offered to help. We would, however, appreciate help getting our tamariki ready in the hall on Thursday morning. Students have been asked to arrive at 8.30 am.
Of course, we would love to see you all at Marlborough Girls College for what we know is going to be an amazing performance. A reminder that our junior students are performing at 10.15 am and our seniors are at 10.45 am.
Room 3 in search of fabric.Fri Oct 21 03:26pm
We are in search of donated fabrics for our Lights Over Marlborough project. In particular bright, bold colours and bright patterns that would attract a kid audience! We want to make scrunchies, hacky sacks, and wheat bags. Easy-to-sew material (or alternatively swim material) would be our preference. All materials can be delivered to Room 3. Thanks!
Mufti-day this Friday (Information in the poster attached)Mon Oct 17 07:10pm
Road Patrol this week & gatesTue Sep 27 07:54am
Kia ora Whānau
Please be aware that while our Wairau Hub students are on camp next week, there may not be ‘normal’ Road Patrol. You may need to help your children cross Maxwell and Eltham Roads in the final week of Term 3.
Also, for the safety of our youngest students, you may occasionally find the gates locked. If this is the case, the main gate off Whitney Street by the office door will be unlocked for you to use. Thanks for your understanding in regard to both of these things.
Have a great ‘short’ week!
Whitney St School Etham Road Entranceway SurveyThu Sep 22 02:29pm
Kia ora Whānau/Caregivers,
We are looking at the possibility of moving or developing our Etham Road Entrance along to the double gates beside the Playcentre, moving the fencing back to provide a larger and safer apron to access the school. The area would be landscaped, and would have a path connecting to our other pathways, etc. We would appreciate some feedback around this idea. This survey is entirely optional to complete and we will be closing it next Thursday 29 September.
We are urgently in need of a Road Patrol Supervisor for Maxwell Road on Monday morningsThu Sep 22 02:17pm

CALENDAR ORDERS CLOSE TOMORROWThu Sep 22 10:49am
If you haven’t already checked out your child’s Calendar Art, please make sure you do. They are absolutely stunning! These pieces of art make great Christmas presents for the person who has everything! Order forms were sent out on Monday and orders close tomorrow Friday 23 September. We realise this is a short turn around but the orders have to be collated and sent away by the end of the term to ensure delivery in mid-Term 4. This is an annual school fundraiser and the money we make goes towards classroom resources.

School Cross Country this TuesdaySun Sep 11 11:29am
Kia ora everyone,
This is to let you know, if you don’t already, that each Hub will be holding their Cross-Country event this coming Tuesday (13 Sept).
It will be quite relaxed being held on school grounds. We can’t give you exact timings except that Wairau will be run from 10am -11am, and Ōpaoa and Taylor from 11:30am – 1pm. Ōpaoa will start straight after play followed by Taylor.
You are most welcome to come along and watch the children run. We apologise for the late notice, this was an oversight on our behalf.
Whitney Street gate Safety – PLEASE BE CAREFULTue Sep 06 09:28am
We are very concerned with the way children are crossing the road at the Whitney St gate entrance after school. Parents are reporting near misses as children run across the road, sometimes without looking, to meet caregivers waiting on Percy Street in their cars.
We also have the added problem of cars parking on the yellow lines and obscuring the vision of children trying to cross the road. To ensure the safety of all please:
* Meet your children at the gate rather than have them cross the road on their own, especially if they are young
* Do not stop on the yellow lines
